You may find a hand held electric can opener easier to use than one that resides on the counter top.

If you have an electric opener that resides on the counter but only have one good hand, you can use that hand to hold the can and your chin to press on the can opener lever.

Don't forget to keep the can opener clean, gunk can seriously affect the performance and ease of use of this kitchen implement.
