Adding Character to Your Dishes

Sometimes you may feel your dish is a little 'blah'. There are several things you can add in small quantity to build a bit of character into it.

Portion Freezing

Freeze everything in portion size, for instance, one hamburger patty, three slices of bacon, one chicken breast, etc.

Add Salt at the Beginning

If you use salt in a dish, it is better to add it at the beginning rather than at the end.

Mixing Oil & Butter

Use half vegetable oil and half butter (not margarine) when you panfry foods on high heat in a pan.

Telling Hard Boiled Eggs From Raw Eggs

If you plan to boil several eggs ahead and keep them in your fridge, add a drop or two of food coloring in the cooking water of the egg.

Chicken Pieces
