Sunny Kitchen, Dozing Dog, and Cappuccino

18 April 2009

Today's a glorious autumn day. It is sunny, there is not a cloud in the sky, and it's relatively warm. The camelia is flowering (nearly 3 months early!!!). After lunch, I made coffee for my partner. The dog followed me to the kitchen.

I turned the coffee machine on, and filled it with fresh water. I turned around to get the coffee beans out of the pantry, and there was Wix, lounging on the only part of the kitchen floor that was hit by full sun.

She always likes to be around when I fiddle in the kitchen. I swear, if that dog were human, she'd know how to cook! Generally I get her to lay down in the doorway between the dining room and the kitchen. I don't like her too close when I cook. But making coffee was a different story. And she looked so warm and comfortable. Instead of chasing her away, I took a photo of her :) Having a dog as a companion is such a heart warming thing.

I then proceeded to make coffee. I apparently make quite good coffee, which intrigues me as I don't drink the vile stuff myself! Nevertheless, made the coffee, steamed the milk to a froth, poured that in the coffee and there you go, Cappuccino, cheaper than Starbucks!

I brought the coffee to my partner in our home office, but the dog, wise thing that she is, remained in the sun!

My partner later informed me that there had been a slight problem with the coffee: It disappeared too fast!

Wix is now in *her* couch beside me as I write this, purring. Yes, dogs do purr.

It's one of those days, lazy, and good!

I'm tempted to bake something with chocolate, wouldn't that just be the touch of perfection needed?
