Enjoying raspberries and blueberries, especially out of season, reminds you of summer! I found some good ones at the store yesterday.

We're in the middle of autumn here in New Zealand. Berry season is well behind us. And yesterday I found some beautifull raspberries and blueberries. What's more, they were local! I couldn't help myself, I purchased a couple punnets.
I did get a bit of sticker shock, and can't recall (nor do I want to) how much I ended up paying for the berries :) But it was worth it, all worth it.

Raspberries and blueberries served with a bit of whipped cream
Of all the berries, raspberries are my favourite. Ohh, how I love this small berry packing a punch! Summertime in each bite, it brings sunshine with it. It's sweet, and a bit tart. It looks fragile, and melts in the mouth, just about. I could eat raspberries every single day and I wouldn't get tired!
Raspberries also remind me of many happy summers during my childhood, of my grand-father baking raspberry pies, of my cousin and I going picking raspberries in the bush at the cottage, of my grand-mother's upside down raspberry pudding.
Blueberries second best behind raspberries, but what a glory they are!
Mix both together, add a bit of cream, and you have a fantastic and simple dessert. Which I enjoyed last night.
Yumm.
