The Author

I co-authored a cookbook about wild meat & game meat title "Le Livre du Gibier" with a friend called René Brunet.

This book was published in 1997, in French, in Ontario. Unfortunately it is out of print. It was quite successful, seeing two runs of 5,000 prints. This may not appear to be such a high number, but for the limited French Canadian market, it is a good number.

We saw a need - there were several books available with recipes for wild meat and game, but they all focused on European game. There were a few books offered by hunting & fishing clubs - but these were mostly adaptation of beef, or pork recipes made with game meat, such as "moose chili".

The book has recipes for commonly found animals, such as quail, duck, venison or goose. It also has recipes for more unusual meat, like squirrel, lynx, bear, or otter. All the recipes were developped and tested by René or myself.

If you are interested in a PDF copy of the book (in French), please contact me.

Condensed milk is wonderful. I don't see how they can get a cow to sit down on those little cans. Fred Allen
